That was really dramatic. Yeah...by the way, I am Bwahahaha on the forums.
Uninteresting drunken rant. Wendy maintained composure which was admirable. John, you are a smart guy and while I'm with you that being a part of organized religion is incomprehensible, you have no ability to discuss it on an intellectual level. You seem good at collecting facts to support your points of view but then you twist them into these bizarre proclaimations. No one I can think of has more blood on their hands than the Catholic Church but the institution has evolved a bit in the past few centuries. Claiming that modern day Catholics support the history of the church, well... Using that same logic, anyone born in Germany who doesn't leave supports the Holocaust. Instead of being interesting to listen to, you become the guy who has to be right all of the time. Enlighten us with your facts but spare us your emotional baggage. Just an observation and yes, you asked.
GREAT talk about religion, no matter what these other comments say. I just attended a funeral that was a Catholic mass.. and it was the coldest, most disconnected way to say goodbye to a life I've ever witnessed. Everyone just went through the motions, and there was no connection to anything spiritual at all. Shouldn't it be about connecting with some sort of higher power, rather than just cowtowing?

Great show, though I was worried for a while. I dont believe in organized religion myself, however what I was concerned with was the two of you not the topic at hand. YOU TWO BE OK. Besides, religion always upsets people in debate, so I say just leave that topic alone. But still good show you two. Hope everything worked out.
Holly Fu*king Sh*t!! John man that was over the top. I know little about religion. So I avoid the topic at all costs.
Just a bit of advice, DO NOT put the Gabber Jaw Podcast on any resume. Unless you are applying for some anti religious spokes person kinda job.

Why is it that the guy who is completely right, and offers a compelling argument is "over the top". Spirituality is a personal thing, if you need dogma, a priest, or any other facilitator, then you are not getting it.
On the other hand, it does sound a little like John is reacting to "white man guilt"

Wendy, you are not all the things you axed in the 48 min. area. I am a bit behind, just heard this today but I can only imagine John relistening obsessively and cringing himself into a fetal position.
John, luv ya, we are so similar philosophically, but, " . . first of all I have nothing against you personally." . . OMG . . rotfl funny. And just so drunk-ass . . awesome show, thank you for being so honest and I can only wish you two, together, the very best, foralways!

If John whole argument Against religion is their acts of Genecide. I guess he should remove the American flag from his front yard. America in it past tried to eradicate the American Indian poulation.

Born and Raised a Catholic, but not a practicing one. IThink Wendy did a great job holding her end of the argument witha Drunk. and We all know Drunks make perfect sense.

During the "debate", I flowed back and forth between agreeing with each of you, depending on how drunk John came across or how hostile Wendy sounded at times.

This is only the second GabberJaW I've listened to, but it hooked me for good. This is one of the most well thought out, most interesting, and most fascinating conversations about religion I've ever heard. I was also raised Catholic, and have since moved on. I think I'm in almost the exact same boat as Wendy on my reasons why. As the dialouge started, I found myself agreeing more with John, but as it went on, I realized that I side more with Wendy on this one.
